Difference Theory

Theory of EveryThing String Theory

(Difference Theory uses Images to express the Structural & Process relations of Reality.
Why, because images are more intuitive than mathematics.
Images exhibit the knowledge of nature through the sense in the way that
humans have learnt from infancy.)

All human thoughts, verbal expressions, experiences and communications
are about Things.

It seems safe to say that Reality is about EveryThing.
Having said that, immediate arises two (2) question.................

The simplictic answer applies to both questions!!

Something -- Nothing
Infinite -- One
Absolute -- Finite
Process -- Structure
Particle -- Wave
Atom: Proton -- Electron
Charge: Positive -- Negative
Molecules: Metal -- Non-Metal
Emotions: Bad -- Good
and so get it??

Humanity rationalizes the generic term Thing as representative
of many different Things and about the many differences between Things.
Difference: Opposites understood in two (2) ways..
1. A Thing by its limits--Inseparable--Process
2. A Thing by its opposites--Unseparable--Structure

However, the most obvious characteristic about Thing is...
Thing is a Unit of.................
Inseparable Process & Unseparable Structure as a "conjugate" pair...
(Conjugate: meaning can not be separated...
Difference concept can be understood
as a unit in two (2)ways---
1. Inseparable by limits
2. Unseparble by opposites

Having said that, DIFFERENCE is fundamental and a basic essential
characteristic to the concept that Reality is the summation
of an Infinite quantity of different Things.
Difference is so pronounced as to be unique in infinite Difference.
All Things, so prominently different, yet are each the same in their Unity,
yet different in action(1.&2.) and different in their form(3.&4.) as real things.

2. Scientific Action understood as: Wave
3. Philosophical Form understood as: Structure
4. Scientific Form understood as: Particle

The analogy holds true again as a constant ratio to the Circle Identity.
From this observation and with the fact that each of us clearly understands that we are one among the numerous Things
that humans witness all around us,
Humanity named this collection

What is Reality ???
Taking the statement above as a bases for analysis, human observation
of the World around us was expanded to the concept of a Universe.
The name Universe expresses a concept of a place of Unity (Uni) within which are different versatile Things, many different versatile Things,
an infinite versatility of different Things.

Having said that, it is obvious that there is much to know about
the Four (4) words we used to describe the difference in nature of Reality.....

Thing -- Process -- Structure -- Infinity
Of the Four (4) items, Thing in structure is by for the most obvious,
so let us begin with

Process manifests as motion. Movement is prevalent throughout all of Reality.
Humans understand that vegetable, animal & human things possess functional
process as in life, growth and move by virtue of some internal force.
They also understand that non-living things of the Earth are Things
which appear to not have motion internally, but rather are motionless and
affixed to their place, however they do process in as much as they exist.
These types of Things depend on their motion
to be applied from an external force or from living things that may move them.
The best known place, a place in constant motion for all Things
readily known by humans is named Planet Earth.
Science tells us that the Earth rotates around the Sun.
We know this to be true today, although believed it to be the opposite in the past.

Copernius Nicolaus Copernicus 19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543) was a Renaissance mathematician and astronomer who formulated a model of the Universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at the center Universe.

Astronomer's research has revealed that the Sky is abound
by movement of many, many Stars and Galaxies.

Process is known by many names, such as going, shopping, buying, driving,
walking, growing and many, many other descriptions, some of which are
not so well known, Existence, Energy, divergence, convergence, emergence.
One name however, seems most generic in the description of process... "Divergence".

Divergence may be defined basically by two (2) descriptions:
1. the act of moving away in different direction from a common point.
2. an infinite series that has no limit.
No limit brings us to the last term...

Two (2) concepts may be understood from the above two (2) descriptions:
1. A series is defined by increments. Increments are segments terminated by limits.

When a pair of limits terminate segments they form a Structure.
Thus, a pair of opposite limits represents "State of difference".
a) a segment or increment bounded by limits is a unit (oneness).
State of Difference as an Unit may be understood as an "Identity".

"An Identity by the ends or limits of process."

b) sequence of increments may be an unlimited sequence (inseparable pair).
State of Difference as Inseparable Pairs may be understood as "Process".
"A sequence of increments of Identities can be infinite."

c) sequence of increments may be limited as opposite pairs (unseparable pair).
State of Difference as Unseparable Pairs may be understood as "Structure".

"A pair of Identities are different by structure as pairs of opposites"

Three (3) Entities functioning as a Unit.
(Entity: "something" existing in itself : something that is separate from other entities)
In the context of Thing, Entity is a constituent, a unique part
that can not exist without its Pair.

(Entity is a conjugate pair whose's existence depends upon its opposite pair Entity.)

Thus we say: "Thing, Substance in Structure,
can not exist without Action, Process".

Thing exhibits
different Form.
Form is Structure, which Emerges (convergence to divergence) from Process.

Thing is a unit consisting of Two (2) Entities:
a conjugate pair of
Quantity (structural difference) & Quality (distinctive difference) .
Thing is a unit that functions as Quantity in Structure & Quality in Process.

Things, that is real Things, are known by humans to exist in a Mind
through awareness. Mind mediates Emotions (opposites) in judgement.
Awareness is a process of stimulation by Human senses.
Human senses are structures of internal process that respond

Things process internally and exhibit those processes externally --
such as expression or reaction.

" Universe"
Such a Phenomena !!!
1. The Universe is, by all measure, an extremely unusual or extraordinary Thing.
The Reality that is known to Humans, experienced in their lifetime and a Reality
which is now known to have existed for some 13 plus billion years is this Universe.
2. For Humans, the Universe is full of events, most of which are so removed from each of us,
that we have little and mostly no knowledge of these occurrences.
These events bring rise to a variety of very significant circumstances.
Although some Humans have devoted lifetimes to understanding this phenomena,
Science, even to the present day, is still laboring to understand the phenomena.
Not only through Science, but through Religion and Philosophy, Humans find the Universe and
Existence within the Universe mostly a mystery.
3. Kant, at the introduction of this page, phrased the dilemma of the phenomena succinctly
in his philosophical statement.
"What appears, that is, what humans have come to know about this phenomena
through senses or experience, seems to be quite different from what the Universe is in itself".

Thus, the puzzlement prevails.
"What is the Universe?
How does it function"?
Where did it come from?
Was it produced, created or just happened by chance?

For the Theory of Everything to meet the criterion to explain all Things in their relationships,
it must
first address reality of material Things. Material Things are those things
which humans come to know or experience through perception of five (5).
Senses: Sight - Hearing - Smell - Taste - Feeling - "Balance is a composite of process & structure"
These senses connect to the brain and conduct stimulation.
Stimulations in the form of knowledge through the process of
proportional wave forms.
Forms which structure as due bits and bytes or derivatives to become knowledge,
Knowledge is the summation of stimulations, singularly or collectively exciting the Mind.
The summation by the reasoning process of the Mind, can be understood as an
Emergence--Divergent Sensations to Convergent Knowledge.
Mind Knowledge are beliefs subject to judgment to real things of Reality.

Knowledge by the senses is direct knowledge that Humans can perceive or experience.
Knowledge by reason, on the other hand, is indirect, a consequence of a sequence in the process of Mind.

As we shall define later, sequence (Time) is the fundamental divergent process of the Universe
and thus all Things change in sequence as process of the Universe.
Further, the implicit nature of sequence of proportional waves can be understood in different relationships:

1. Time, deterministic Incremental (Beginning -- End)-- Change, divergence.
2. Space, proportional place holder of Matter -- Quantity, convergence of Structure.
When understood in Pair Sequence of process, inseparable divergence
emerges unseparable convergent structure, Opposites in Unity...
Thing, Identity, structure in process.

Further, as has been previously discussed, Reality sets its roots in Existence and Form,
the Reality in which Real Things of Form (structure) exhibit their Existence (action or process).
Reality and Real Things that make it to be Reality, are Things of Structure,
different things, relating, processing within Things and between Things.
Fundamentally, two (2) relationships within each and every Thing of the Universe.
This relationship is so closely related as to be understood as a conjugate pairs.

Order of Difference
Reality is an orderly Process Of Relationship:
(See: "Order" Page)

  1. Within the Limits of Difference -- Identity
  2. Within Internal Differences of Identity -- Distinction
  3. Exterior to every Identity -- Difference

“Identity” may be said to be the first order of Difference in as much as, limits defines Things.
“Distinction” may be said to the second order of Difference in as much as, Distinction
defines the differences within Things.

“Difference” may be said to be the third order of Difference In as much as,
Difference defines the external differences between Things.

Identity is exact sameness, oneness, a thing in itself, possesses individuality, a single thing or element, completeness, lacks plurality. Identity is absolute when all the characteristics, traits, attributes, etc., all that exists is “one” and the same thing, Absolute Unity.
Identity is partial, limited, or qualified, if some of the characteristics, traits, etc. are not one
and the same thing, are parts (1), conditions (2), or whose location is separated. (3)
Example: 1. Numerical identity is the sameness of one and the same individuality, yet may,
at the same time, have minor distinctions.

2. Throughout a life time a human is one and same person.
3. Geometry Identities, different triangles are understood to be identical.
4. Material or Real identity exists when John Doe is a father, husband, business man,
or acts in various other activities (relations).

Closed Distinction

Distinction is the internal lack of Identity It always implies plurality and division of some sort and necessitates Internal difference of more than one thing, part, aspect, attributes, etc. Distinction and Difference can mean the same thing in some uses. Most often Difference is used to express the reason for Distinction.

For Example: Discrete intervals within an Identity (differences of characteristics) are said to be distinguishing differences or Distinctions of (time, state, place, parts, attributes, quantity, quality).

Distinction of Reason is not distinction as in the real material sense, but rather the way
of looking at something, an abstract distinction.

Open Difference

Difference implies “separation or division”.
Separation or Division necessitates the lack of oneness.
Difference defines external Division of parts; Separation of Location; or Segregation of Condition or State.
Nature exhibits division of external States:
Infinite --- Finite --- Trinity (see Order) Something different to No-Thing
Infinite: implies Identity of State -- absolute oneness (Identities of Perfection)
Finite: implies Identity of State – parts distinct within oneness (Humans)
Trinity: implies Identity of State – Identities externally different (Universe)

Nature in Division (difference) exhibits Three (3) States of external difference.
Each State may be understood as an Identity in itself, as defined by
the limits of Difference.

Limits (difference) implies an extent possessing, opposites, boundaries, separation, States, Potency, necessitates intervals, plurality (more than one thing), terminal points (Antithesis).

The many distinctions of Change may be understood in the concept of “difference”
in its process; such as Vector (direction; up, down; forward, backward, sideways) i.e.
Time forward advancement of Identity; Location (altitude, place);
Magnitude (quantity, amount); Momentum (force, motive, desire etc.) and rate (velocity, acceleration).

Difference as a Concept of Philosophy
(Courtesy Pediatric)

Difference is a key concept of philosophy, denoting the process or set of properties by which one entity is distinguished from another within a relational field or a given conceptual system. In the Western philosophical system, difference is traditionally viewed as being opposed to identity, following the Principles of Leibniz, and in particular, his Law of the Identity of indiscernible. In structuralist and post-structuralist accounts, however, difference is understood to be constitutive of both meaning and identity. In other words, because identity (particularly, but not limited to, personal identity) is viewed in non-essentialist terms as a construct, and because constructs only produce meaning through the interplay of differences (see below), it is the case that for both structuralism and post structuralism, identity cannot be said to exist without difference.
Gottfried Leibniz's Principle of the Identity of indiscernibles states that two things are identical if and only if they share the same and only the same properties. This is a principle which defines identity rather than difference, although it established the tradition in logic and analytical philosophy of conceiving of identity and difference as oppositional.
Kant's critique
In his Critique of Pure Reason, Immanuel Kant argues that it is necessary to distinguish between the thing in itself and its appearance. Even if two objects have completely the same properties, if they are at two different places at the same time, they are numerically different:
Identity and Difference.— [...] Thus, in the case of two drops of water, we may make complete abstraction of all internal difference (quality and quantity), and, the fact that they are intuited at the same time in different places, is sufficient to justify us in holding them to be numerically different. Leibniz [sic] regarded phenomena as things in themselves, consequently as intelligibilia, that is, objects of pure understanding [...], and in this case his principle of the indiscernible (principium identatis indiscernibilium) is not to be impugned. But, as phenomena are objects of sensibility, and, as the understanding, in respect of them, must be employed empirically and not purely or transcendentally, plurality and numerical difference are given by space itself as the condition of external phenomena. For one part of space, although it may be perfectly similar and equal to another part, is still without it, and for this reason alone is different from the latter [...]. It follows that this must hold good of all things that are in the different parts of space at the same time, however similar and equal one may be to another.[1]

Difference in structuralism

Structural linguistics, and subsequently structuralism proper, are founded on the idea that meaning can only be produced differentially in signifying systems (such as language). This concept first came to prominence in the structuralist writings of Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure and was developed for the analysis of social and mental structures by French anthropologist
Claude Lévi-Strauss.
The former was concerned to question the prevailing view of meaning "inhering" in words, or the idea that language is a nomenclature bearing a one-to-one correspondence to the real. Instead, Saussure argues that meaning arises through differentiation of one sign from another, or even of one phoneme from another:
In language there are only differences. Even more important: a difference generally implies positive terms between which the difference is set up; but in language there are only differences without positive terms. Whether we take the signified or the signifier, language has neither ideas nor sounds that existed before the linguistic system, but only conceptual and phonic differences that have issued from the system. The idea or phonic substance that a sign contains is of less importance than the other signs that surround it. [...] A linguistic system is a series of differences of sound combined with a series of differences of ideas; but the pairing of a certain number of acoustical signs with as many cuts made from the mass thought engenders a system of values.[2]
In his Structural Anthropology, Claude Lévi-Strauss applied this concept to the anthropological study of mental structures, kinship and belief systems, examining the way in which social meaning emerges through a series of structural oppositions between paired/opposed kinship groups, for example, or between basic oppositional categories (such as friend and enemy, life and death, or in a later volume, the raw and the cooked).[3][4]

Difference and différance in post structuralism

The French philosopher Jacques Derrida both extended and profoundly critiqued structuralist thought on the processes by which meaning is produced through the interplay of difference in language, and in particular, writing. Whereas structuralist linguistics had recognized that meaning is differential, much structuralist thought, such as narratology, had become too focused on identifying and producing a typology of the fixed differential structures and binary oppositions at work in any given system. In his work, Derrida sought to show how the differences on which any signifying system depends are not fixed, but get caught up and entangled with each other. Writing itself becomes the prototype of this process of entanglement, and in Of Grammatology (1967) Derrida shows how the concept of writing (as the paradoxical absence or de-presencing of the living voice) has been subordinated to the desired "full presence" of speech within the Western philosophical tradition.[5] Derrida's early thought on the relationship between writing and difference is collected in his book of essays entitled Writing and Difference (1967).[6]
Elsewhere, Derrida coined the term différance (a deliberate misspelling of différence) in order to provide a conceptual hook for his thinking on the meaning processes at work within writing/language.[7] This neologism is a clever play on the two meanings of the French word différer: to differ and to defer. Derrida thereby argues that meaning does not arise out of fixed differences between static elements in a structure, but that the meanings produced in language and other signifying systems are always partial, provisional and infinitely deferred along a chain of differing/deferring signifiers. At the same time, the word différance itself performs this entanglement and confusion of differential meanings, for it depends on a minimal difference (the substitution of the letter "a" for the letter "e") which cannot be apprehended in oral speech, since the suffixes "-ance" and "-ence" have the same pronunciation in French. The "phonemic" (non-) difference between différence and différance can only be observed in writing, hence producing differential meaning only in a partial, deferred and entangled manner.
In a similar vein, Gilles Deleuze's Difference and Repetition (1968) was an attempt, to think difference as having an ontological privilege over identity, inverting the traditional relationship between those two concepts and implying that identities are only produced through processes of differentiation.
